How to Bathe a Newborn
Bathing can be a fun bonding experience for you and your baby. Most babies love bath time and while it may take a few baths to get the hang of it, you'll be a pro in no time.
Mum tips
Try top and tail bathing until your newborn's umbilical cord stump falls off. Know how to take care of umbilical cord of a newborn baby. This helps to keep it dry and helps it heal. Once the umbilical area is healed you can try placing your baby directly in the water, you might find this easiest in a newborn baby bath, sink or plastic tub lined with a clean towel.
Use warm water. You can check with your elbow first in case it's too hot.
Make sure that flannels, soap and towels are in easy reach as you will need to hold your baby at all times.
After the bath, pat your baby dry, making sure to gently dry between the folds of the skin.
When they are clean and dry, put on a fresh nappy, pick them up for a cuddle and take in that wonderful smell of a freshly bathed newborn – it's the best. Check out Pampers Premium Care Diaper Pants wrapped in softness & caressed in comfort.
